Job Description

About the role:

We’re seeking a Payroll Officer to manage the efficient and accurate processing of weekly payroll across five companies, covering approximately 130 employees — an even mix of salaried staff and wage earners. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing and reporting, including superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG, and workers compensation and working closely with our People and Culture team.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive working relationships across the business.

This is a part-time role, working 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday and is located in our Belrose Head Office. One day WFH will be considered after an appropriate training period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll accurately and on time using Emplive and ADP
  • Manage payroll-related queries and liaise with People and Culture, managers, and employees
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly reporting
  • Complete monthly and annual reconciliations (superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG, workers compensation etc)
  • Prepare and lodge relevant declarations
  • Reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts and prepare payroll-related journals
  • Provide training and reporting support to internal stakeholders

Desired Skills and Experience

What We're Looking For:

Someone who thrives on accuracy, takes pride in their work, and enjoys being the go-to person for all things payroll. You’ll work closely with colleagues across People and Culture, Finance, and Operations — so strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • At least 3 years in a similar payroll position, ideally within a medium to large, multi-entity organisation
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll legislation, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Excel and payroll software systems (experience with ADP and Emplive highly regarded)
  • Numerate, accurate, and highly organised
  • Reliable and self-motivated with a “can-do” attitude
  • A collaborative team player who lives Benedict’s core values

What we offer:

  • Diverse family business, with the ability to make a difference.
  • Opportunity to work in a busy, highly successful team with genuine training & career development opportunities.
  • An organisation which is dedicated to the overall wellbeing, health and safety of all employees.
  • We are a reputable industry leader in the building and construction industry, and quarrying industries.
  • Access to Employee Assistance Programs.
  • Access to employee discount programs.

Note: We promote a safe work culture; therefore, we have a process of reference checking and pre-employment medicals, including a drug and alcohol screen for the successful applicant.
